IDEALAW is a boutique consultancy focusing on the IT industry, looking for a solicitor to join our close knit group. We need someone really exceptional – you must be more than just a lawyer!
Our mission is to do work we like, with people we like, for people we like. This means we’re not a typical law firm, and we don’t intend to become one.
Working with us will give you:
• the chance to concentrate on IT law
• direct client contact and management of your own files to your level of experience
• a friendly, down to earth working environment
• truly flexible working conditions (yes, you can work school hours)
• absolutely no unpaid overtime -ever
• an office conveniently located in the Brisbane Technology Park, Eight Mile Plains.
Responsibilities:
• review and draft IT centric legal documents (e.g. GITC, SLAs, software licences, website documentation and consultancy agreements)
• assist clients in IT related business transactions and structuring advice (e.g. procurement, buying/selling/merging, setting up new businesses, IP audits, due diligence etc)
• work with external legal counsel at the direction of clients for other areas of law that we don’t support, such as tax and litigation
• manage your own files from beginning to end, including scoping and pricing new projects (we work mostly on a fixed fee per project basis) through to finalisation and billing
• contribute to the development and improvement of precedents and procedures to increase our internal efficiency and productivity
Requirements:
• prefer 3+ PAE
• IT qualifications or extensive experience in IT law highly regarded
• Ability to understand technical and business aspects of each client’s business (not just legal) to give realistic advice
• Self sufficient and able to quickly adapt to software used within our firm (dictaphones are for dinosaurs)
• Ability and willingness to take initiative, address problems and drive own files.
• Hard working, self motivated, well organised and able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, dynamic and highly team-oriented. Sense of humor and commitment to professionalism and collegiality.
